Hibino 2

£50.00

Product description

Japanese art has always been a source of fascination and inspiration for Europeans, and this artist continues the tradition with a collection of images of pieces made from 'found' materials - delicately coloured and intricately constructed, to be studied in depth in order to appreciate the amount of detail and expertise involved in their creation.

Katsuhiko Hibino (b. 1958 in Gifu City) studied art in Tokyo and in 1993 produced "A Collection of Katsuhiko Hibino's Arts work / Shogakukan", presenting a 10-year retrospective of all his creative endeavours, and in this way placing his artistic career in the broader scope of art history. This included the works contained in the two earlier volumes of 1987 "A Collection of the Works of Katsuhiko Hibino 1983-1987".

Our book is Vol 2 of the 1987 work, bound in grey card with a separate grey card jacket and a pale green wrap-around band with black Japanese script. The card jacket has a paste-down of one of the artist's works, and his name & other details are in black on front, back and spine. Inside, the front free endpaper bears the artist's signature and the date (29.10.1991). The general condition is excellent - some very slight creasing to the top R/H front corner, and a small tear to the wrap-around band at the back. No internal markings at all. An excellent copy. Also included, a B/W card with details of the Paris exhibition of 1991 at which this book was presumably obtained.
