In the Court of King Crimson

£48.99

Product description

In 1969 King Crimson came from nowhere to take the music scene by storm. Within the space of a few short months, they delivered a ground-breaking performance supporting the Rolling Stones in London's Hyde Park and released a debut album, 'In the Court of the Crimson King', that became a massively acclaimed Top Five chart hit on both sides of the Atlantic. In the process the created the template for what would become Progressive Rock.
In what would prove to be a recurring theme in King Crimson's epic career, the original band came apart on the verge of global success. Since then guitarist Robert Fripp has remained at the core of the group, collaborating with an impressive roll-call of musicians, to produce more than 50 albums of consistently challenging and downright awkward, genre-blurring music.
In the Court of King Crimson is the first ever book to chronicle the continuing development of this legendary musical institution, still going strong 30 years after its inception. Author Sid Smith has spent nearly two years conducting exclusive interviews with band members - past and present - their families, friends and associates. He has also been given unprecedented access to archival material, some of which is reprinted here for the first time, including many rare photos.
