R E King & Co Ltd, London, undated (COPAC, 1903), First edition. Hardback, bound in green cloth covers with bevelled edges and top edge gilded; the title is in gilt on the spine and front cover; 16mo., 220 pp, two b/w illustrations by J Ayton Symington, one still has tissue guard in place; no D/J. Book condition: VG, bumped at ends of spine and rubbed at corners, otherwise clean and tight with no inscriptions. A collection of memoirs of life at sea in the 19th Century, including: "Beauty's Log", a diary of his first sea voyage as a boy in 1831, "The Cruise of the Thomasine" in 1853, when, as captain, he was shipwrecked on the eponymous Holmes' Reef and two brief episodes "The Last European Pirate" and "The Attack on the Morning Star" from the cruise of the "Susan" in 1831.
