Mr Twink Finds a Family

£150.00

Product description

'Mr Twink', created by Freda Hurt, was enormously popular in the 1950s, being a cat in the Hercule Poirot style, solving mysteries and crimes on his local patch. This is the eighth in the series of nine titles.

Freda Hurt (1911-1999), though virtually forgotten now, was hugely popular among children in the 50s, writing several series of books, of which the 'Mr Twink' series was perhaps the best-loved. She began writing for the young after a career in a paediatric medical unit, when she was about 35, and later went on to produce a number of adult novels, and even a dramatic script about the Nativity for children.

Our book is in excellent condition, bound in orange cloth with a black cat at the bottom R/H corner of the front cover, and black titles etc on the spine. It is protected by a very good (clipped) D/W with minimal signs of wear (a few tiny chips at corners & bottom of the spine). The endpapers are slightly tanned where not protected by the d/w. Page tops slightly spotted - other edges clean. Generously illustrated with b/w drawings by Nina Scott Langley, the pages are all clean and bright, and the binding is firm. An excellent copy.
