Non-English Language Drama Films Bundle: "Oldboy" and "Betty Blue"

£10.00

Product description

'Oldboy' is a 2003 South Korean mystery thriller neo-noir film directed by Park Chan-wook. It is based on the Japanese manga of the same name written by Nobuaki Minegishi and Garon Tsuchiya. Oldboy is the second installment of The Vengeance Trilogy, preceded by Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance and followed by Sympathy for Lady Vengeance.
IMDB synopsis: After being kidnapped and imprisoned for fifteen years, Oh Dae-Su is released, only to find that he must find his captor in five days.
The film won the Grand Prix at the 2004 Cannes Film Festival and high praise from the President of the Jury, director Quentin Tarantino. Film critic Roger Ebert stated that 'Oldboy' is a "powerful film not because of what it depicts, but because of the depths of the human heart which it strips bare". It has been listed among the best films of the 2000s in several publications.
IMDB Score: 8.4
Rotten Tomatoes Score: 80% fresh
Language: Korean with English subtitles.
Included in this two disk special edition set is a supplement DVD, which features the film's soundtrack, a documentary on the film's creation, and promotion videos released before the film was released.
Both DVDs are in excellent condition, as are the cases they are kept in.

"A landmark in French cinema, 'Betty Blue' is Jean-Jacques Beineix's erotically charged and visually intoxicating film that introduced the world to a new screen icon, Beatrice Dalle."
IMDB synopsis: A lackadaisical handyman and aspiring novelist tries to support his younger girlfriend as she slowly succumbs to madness.
The film received both a BAFTA and Oscar nomination for Best Foreign Language Film in 1986,[3] as well as winning a César Award for Best Poster. In 1992 it was awarded the Golden Space Needle of the Seattle International Film Festival.
IMDB Score: 7.4
Rotten Tomatoes Score: 77% fresh.
Language: French with English subtitles.
This is a two-disk set. Disk one consists of the director's cut of the film (which features about an hour of extra footage); disk two consists of the original theatrical version, a documentary on the making of the film ('Blue Notes and Bungalows - The Making of Betty Blue') and Beatrice Dalle screen tests.
Both DVD's are in excellent condition, as is the case they are kept in.

A great bundle for those wanting to experience different cultures through the medium of film, and for those wanting to experience a different kind of drama to that of English/American drama films.
