The book has red marble-effect boards and gilt titles, slight bumps to corners and spine ends, some small foxing spots to upper text block edge, light dust soiling to other edges. The jacket has some noticeable wear, with general creasing around edges and on the flaps; all corners are worn with surface loss and there is a closed tear approx. 1.5cm to top right front corner; spine ends are bumped and worn, with small closed and open tears up to approx. 1cm. The first edition of this book was published in 1961, this second edition is a complete revision with new entries and many new monochrome photographs. Particulars of each ship include route of operation, ports served, tonnage, dimensions, propelling machinery, speed, passenger accommodation, together with notes on the history, amenities and other features of interest. Apart from a few minor entries, a full page is devoted to each ship or class of ship. The book gives valuable reference information and will be of tremendous interest to anybody interested in shipping and sea travel.
