The Chastening

£14.99

Product description

This, the second collection of simple and sincere poems by Denys Blakelock, radiates warmth and humanity, and deals with themes indicative of the author's Catholicism.

Denys Blakelock was a successful actor on the London stage, appearing notably in 'A Pair of Spectacles' (1949), 'Dandy Dick' (1948) and 'The World of Light' (1950). He was an intimate of both Laurence Olivier and Eleanor Farjeon.

The book is in good condition, though the dustwrapper and endpapers are somewhat tanned. The cream boards are unblemished, with a few minor signs of wear at the top corners and the top of the spine. The unclipped dust jacket is also only lightly worn (apart from the areas of tanning and some grubbiness to the back). There is an ink-written inscription on the fep, dated 1958; internally the binding is firm, and all pages clean and bright.
