About this item

Trained health professionals and midwives help communities to thrive and survive. Few villages in remote areas have health centres so mums and families with small children often have to travel many miles to reach medical help. A trained local health worker can mean so much to so many

Delivery & returns

All gifts are sent by 1st class post within 3 working days of when you place your order.  An optional delivery contribution of £1.70  per order for deliveries within the UK will be suggested during checkout, to help us cover costs. You can pay the suggested amount, increase or decrease your contribution, or pay nothing at all. You choose.

If you're in a hurry you can also send a gift E-card, at no extra cost, which will be sent as soon as you place your order. 

Please note that Oxfam Unwrapped gifts count as a donation, so our no quibble returns policy does not apply, and under Charity Commission rules, we are unable to give you a refund.

Jasmine lives in Yemen. Thanks to a 'Train a healthworker' gift from Oxfam Unwrapped, she’s receiving practical training in midwifery at the local hospital twice a week. It’s a life-changing gift – not just for Jasmine but for all the women in her community.

"When I started to see other girls getting involved in the training, it encouraged me to go. Three other girls attend this course from my community. If I weren't here, I would be waiting to get married."

Jasmine attends a course at Sayoun General Hospital two days a week. Now she's looking to the future and wants to take her newfound skills, and confidence, back to her community.

"My community really need healthcare and education. With the skills I'm learning, I'll be able to help my community. Just by attending the course, I've encouraged more girls to come and learn new skills."
