About this item
John MacGregor & Co., Perth, Scotland, 1907. Paper on Board. 6"x 9". During his tour of India and Ceylon at the turn of the 19th/20th century the author wrote many letters to his Congregation in Perth, and on his return gave lectures on what he had seen and learned. This book is an expansion and re-organisation of these letters and lectures. Illustrated with 13 plates, each with 5 or 6 small b/w photographs. Unfortunately the frontispiece map of the author's route has a large piece torn out. Bound in marbled paper-covered boards with brown cloth spine and corners. Much wear to the paper edges and an ink stain on front cover. Inside join of both covers are cracked but attached. Endpapers very foxed and grubby and pages have many grubby marks. Inscription on front prelim "To Jane Black for Proficiency in the Shorter Catechism - N.C. Keith, Minister, May 1911".
