This book explores the unusually varied coinage and currency of England and Wales at the time of the 'Great Rebellion' which broke out against King Charles I in 1642. The associated beginnings of the systematic awarding of medals for military service are also examined. There are 147 b/w illustrations and 11 plates in colour.The dust jacket is intact but with a 1" tear at the top front outside corner. The binding is tight with a little bumping at each end of the spine but the silver lettering is still bright and clear. There is light foxing to the extreme top cut edge of pages but the text and illustrations are clean and unmarked. Published by Seaby in association with The National Museum of Wales.
