A most beautiful pendant probably of Indian or Arabic origin but also with a definite Victorian feel. Our research and advice from several experts has not definitively pinned it down .
Seed turquoise stones numbering 48 pieces and a seed pearl in the centre with a fine yellow metal frame over the top. The side of the pendant has a fine twisted wire surround as well as chain decoration. Large bail with a faux screw head to the front. The back has what appears to be a frame or surround for a portrait? Possibly there was another piece to the back to protect this portrait? Regrettably there are no markings and we are unable to make any comment as to kind of metal or purity. The metal is very yellow as seen in the photo. Length 39mm including the bail which is 11mm long approx, width 25mm approx, depth 5mm approx. Weight 11.1 g. This superb finely crafted pendant is awaiting a new appreciative owner and at the same time help Oxfam help others.
