Vintage Bridge Set - Cards & Marker Pads

£50.00

Product description

A unique set of four book-like boxes all held upright securely in a base box card container. Two of the ‘books’ contain playing cards (two packs each) and two of the ‘books’ contain bridge marker pads and pencils (two each). Two of the packs of cards are sealed in their original John Waddington wrappers. The other two packs are complete, seem to be hardly used, and each with an extra blank card and a joker. The cards have bright gilt edges. The four marker pads each have the top couple of sheets removed but are otherwise in Fine condition. On their backs are the International Laws of Contract Bridge and International Auction Bridge Scoring. The inner boxes containing the cards and pads are covered in a gold paper; these inner boxes slide into the outer card covers which are covered in a brown imitation leather paper with gilt at the tops and bases to match the inners. The ‘titles’ are in gilt on the ‘spines’. The bases of the ‘books’ have a little scuffing and the lower left front of one of the marker boxes has a small patch of surface damage. Fantastic vintage set in very good condition. Undated.

Oxfam Bookshop Lymington

Lymington is on the South coast, bordering on the New Forest National Park which was created as a Royal Forest in 1079 by William the Conqueror, and first recorded as 'Nova Foresta' in the Doomsday Book in 1086. Our Oxfam Shop at 73, The High Street is in a lovely Georgian building, the tallest in Lymington. The elegant Georgian buildings lining the wide main street were built mostly for merchants in the local salt trade. The famous Saturday market brings the town to life with its variety of stalls. The area is renowned for outdoor pursuits, including camping, sailing, windsurfing, and surfing, as well as forest walks and horse riding.
