Product description

Beautiful patterned silk original 1940's handmade tea-dress. The dress features a flattering shallow sweetheart neckline, capped short sleeves and stitching down the centre of the bodice creating a ruched effect popular at the time. The skirt of the dress flares from curved tailoring at the bottom of the bodice.
The dress now fastens at the left side with a series of hook and eyes hidden in a small panel as shown in the photograph. The 2 small vertical cuts in the material as seen are probably the result of the removal of a zip fastening from some time in the dress' history. When the dress is fastened, the hooks cannot be seen and there are 4 feature buttons covered in the silk material.
The silk is generally in very good condition with no fading of its vibrant colours although there is some brown staining down the front of the dress and the bottom hem of the dress at the back as photographed. However the marks are well-concealed by the colour and pattern of the dress itself.
The measurements are as follows - chest 36 inches, waist 28 inches, length 45 and a half inches.
