VINTAGE 1950S - Frank Usher - Size: 4/6 - Cream / ivory with Gold patterning - Sleeveless Full Length Dress

£100.00

Product description

VINTAGE 1950S - Frank Usher - Size: 4/6 - Cream / ivory with Gold patterning - Sleeveless Full Length Dress

This is an absolutely gorgeous 1950s vintage dress by designer Frank Usher, sold by Fenwick's of Newcastle. It is made of a very heavy tapestry style fabric, with a plain ivory base, woven all over in cream and gold thread, picking out a floral pattern - see 6th photo for detail. The bodice has an oval neckline, and is sleeveless, and the bust darts are lightly gathered, giving it extra decorative detail. Inside, there is a boned corset. The skirt is very full, being gathered at the waist and hips, but left ungathered at the front of the waist, so that it falls flatter to the front. The darts from the bust continue part way down the skirt, and are similarly gathered, adding a pretty ruched detail. The underskirt is made of a thick, stiff fabric, which gives the skirt lots of volume. There is a little discoloration at the armholes, and to the front there are a couple of small rust spots - see 5th picture. It is VERY small fitting - we could not get it to fit our mannequin! But this is a perfect chance to own a piece of wearable 50s history. Don't miss out!
