*Vintage 1960's size 12 brown 'trench coat': hand made by seamstress

£29.99 Out Of Stock

Product description

Vintage 1960's Brown 'Trench Coat' Style Coat hand made by Mary Seccombe when resident in London in the 1960's
Double Breasted With Matching Fabric Belt, Wood Effect Buttons On Front And Matching Wood Effect Buckle On Belt
Wide, Rounded Lapels And Curved Shoulder Yolk. Hand-stitched paler brown lining. Two Square Front Pockets With Protective Flaps Over.
Mary had a very minor 'slip-up' here on the 'non-finishing' of the seams inside the pockets (!) but the coat is really well made apart from, and even taking into consideration, that slip! A lovely hand stitched piece.

Seamstress Details
Mrs Mary Seccombe 1925 – 2016

Mary was born and brought up in Manchester.
She attended Manchester Municipal School of Art in 1942 and her interest in dress design and dressmaking developed from that.
Whilst she made most of her own clothes, she also spent some time teaching dressmaking in Adult Education classes while she lived in London in the 1960s and 70s, an experience she fondly remembered.
Her interest in clothes and fashion was important to her and she continued to enjoy and care for the garments she had made.
Mary lived in Tenbury Wells for the last twenty-one years.
Her two sons are delighted to be able to donate to Oxfam so many items in her name.
