Vintage Edna Glyn Boutique size bust 36" gold long dress

£110.00 Out Of Stock

Product description

This beautiful gold 1940's dress is from vintage design label Edna Glyn Boutique. Dresses from this label appeared in the Guardian at the time, with fabrics coming from a French company called Ravine. Customers would have their measurements taken and individual pattern blocks made. This ankle length dress is slim and slinky, made from a gold lurex type fabric woven in a linear design very like a snake skin. With a high neckline and long narrow sleeves, the dress skims over the waist in a fluid line. A 15" slit in the left side seam to the hem is enhanced with 3 matching fabric covered buttons, which echo the 3 buttons just below the left shoulder to the neck. The only shaping is
two bust darts and the dress is fastened with a long metal zip at centre back with a hook and eye at the neck. A narrow fabric covered
rope belt, knotted at each end and treaded through hand stitched loops, ties at the front. The dress is in exceptionally good condition in view of the age, with very little damage. The left belt loop is unstitched at the bottom and there are a couple of holes on the hem edge of the right side.
