Vintage Victorian Handmade Size S/M Jet Black Tassell Embellished Capelet

£95.00

Product description

Vintage Victorian Handmade Size S/M Jet Black Tassell Embellished Capelet

This jet black handmade capelet looks to date back to the Victorian era. Great for any collector or vintage clothes lover. It can easily become one of a collection or even be worn in modern day as it would been many years ago.
This garment would have been worn over an elegant evening dress adding some subtle decoration to the outfit. Constructed using four separate sections the cape drapes over the shoulders as an elegant accessory. The main fabric is a black hessian type fabric with matching jet black lace braiding following an elegant floral pattern known well in this era. The design flows around the whole garment from the front tabs round to the back. Tassels also line the edges of the garment adding movement and flow to the cape. Matching smaller tassels are also used to embellish other parts of the cape. The inside is a black satin lining used to finish the garment.

The garment is in good condition considering how old it is only having sustained a few wear and tares. The lining fabric has worn in areas and small holes are visible up close. Some of the smaller tassels have also fallen off over the years but a few still remain in place. A small amount of the braiding has also worn away over the years giving a slightly discoloured effect.

Items such as this capelet are a rare find due to their age and durability. This piece would be a great addition to a collection or the beginning of one. Its unique shape and detailed embellishments make it a desirable piece for any vintage lover.
