About this festival

One of the UK's longest running and best-known festivals, Reading pulls in artists across the rock, indie, punk and metal spectrum on the August Bank Holiday weekend every year. On the banks of the River Thames in Berkshire, the festival provides a packed line-up with entertainment running late into the night. Along with its sister festival Leeds, which runs on the same weekend, it draws in a core audience of young people under 30, but its legendary status sees fans of all ages returning year after year.

New in 2013, the festival has introduced 3 new stages, a covered food court area and they've enlarged the arena to include more space for these and for chilling out. From a stewarding point of view, this can be a very busy festival, but that can lead to more exciting and varied experiences on shift and it appeals to first-time volunteers and Reading veterans alike!
