Shambala is a creative, non-commercial, ethical and family-friendly festival with a wild side. It's a small and funky alternative to bigger festivals on the August bank holiday and some would say it's a well kept secret - completely independent from advertising and sponsorship it's promoted mainly via word of mouth, with line ups and location kept secret until just before the event. Shambala aims to be a responsible green festival; recycling almost all waste, investing in compost toilets, using solar, wind & biodiesel, and carefully selecting traders and
suppliers.
Expect hidden venues, treetop assault courses, art installations in the lake, a roller disco, tons of tiny bonkers venues with plenty to get involved with - cinemas, workshops, crafts, kids activities, circus performances, talks, saunas, cafes, as well as a great selection of music and a lovely laid-back festival crowd! The annual Saturday themed fancy dress parade is a crazy spectacle which the whole festival takes part in. This is a great stewarding experience for first-time stewards and experienced stewards alike, but make sure you come armed with fancy dress and glitter!
