There are a few things that you'll need to think about before you enter a team to take on Trailtrekker, and also to prepare for the challenge itself.

Get a team together

You'll need four team members to take on the challenge who must be 18+ on event weekend. This could be friends, family members or colleagues. Think about the different qualities you'll want in your team - enthusiasm, fundraising ideas, energy etc.

You'll also need to decide on a team leader. This person will be the main point of contact with Oxfam and will receive key event information, including the printed guides which they will distribute to team members. The team leader is the person who completes the online entry for the challenge.

Find a Support Crew

Your Support Crew will be friends or family who transport your spare kit and supplies along the course, meeting you at each Checkpoint. They're also a huge source of motivation and encouragement.

We suggest having a minimum of two people support you, so that the driving can be shared, with an ideal number of four so they can alternate shifts. Being Support Crew is great fun - it's like a festival on the move.

Prepare your kit

Good walking boots are vital; you need some that are comfortable and well worn in. You'll also need waterproofs, walking socks, suitable clothing for all weather conditions and some basic first aid supplies  - all of which can be picked up from any good outdoor store.

Be prepared to train

You don't need to be a seasoned athlete to take part, but you will need to be prepared to do some training. After you sign up we provide you with a detailed training guide - it's flexible so you can make it work for your schedule.

Training on different terrains over various distances will be good practice but the key is to get out there and walk with your team - it will help you to determine your pace, and training together can be great fun.


Kick-start your fundraising

The minimum fundraising amount is £1500, which breaks down to just £375 per team member. Once you've set up your JustGiving page and started to plan a few fundraising events you'll be well on your way to smashing your pledge. When you enter a team we provide you with a fundraising guide, tips and advice, as well as inspiring rewards to keep you motivated.
