  • Team RGR 2, Royal Gurkha Rifles, ahead of their 12 hour finish in 2012. The Gurkhas started Trailwalker over 30 years ago.
  • The Gurkhas provide all the logistical infrastructure behind the event – right down to the truly excellent cooking!
  • Trailwalker is known and respected around the world as an ideal team building opportunity which offers valuable skills and experience.
  • The route follows the beautiful South Downs National Park along the coast to Brighton meaning motivational scenery from start to finish.
  • There are hundreds of signs out on the course to keep your team moving in the right direction.
  • The Gurkhas will be tracking your location whilst your supporters will be able to follow your progress live online as you move!
  • We can’t guarantee the weather. In 2012 we had our wettest ever year, but despite the conditions the overall completion rate stayed at 77% - no different from previous years!
  • Each team must have a ‘Support Crew’ to meet them at the ten checkpoints along the course and provide clean clothes, snacks and vital encouragement.
  • The Gurkhas are incredibly proud of Trailwalker and being part of their challenge is an unforgettable experience.
  • There will be hundreds of Oxfam volunteers supporting you on the course to cheer you on, help you at checkpoints and keep you moving.
  • Massage is available on the course and at the finish line. These skilled sports professionals have all the experience, techniques and advice to keep you moving.
  • Trekking into the night is a beautiful, unique, surreal and mentally challenging time of Trailwalker where the team must really work together.
  • The Gurkhas serve more food after 70km, perfect for a quick refuel before the small hours. Don’t eat too much though – or you’ll never get going again!
  • The trail of headtorches stretching away into the distance is a lasting memory from the event.
  • Dawn. Around 20km to go. Daylight boosts spirits, renews belief and spurs you onto the finish line. It’s an incredible part of the experience.
  • ‘Team UNIT’ at sunrise on the final stretch of their 23 hour 20 min finishing time, slightly ahead of the Trailwalker average of 26 hours.
  • Many support crews fix a quick hot breakfast for their teams to give them that lift and keep them going to Brighton.
  • Gurkha pipers send you off at the start line and greet you at the finish line. It’s an incredibly moving experience to be welcomed by these humble soldiers.
  • You’ve done it! It’s an unforgettable experience and a serious achievement to complete Trailwalker – many teams find it addictive!
  • The joy of crossing the line with your friends as the crowd cheers you on is hard to beat, and what’s more you can rest assured you’ve earned every penny you’ve raised.
  • Celebrating with your support crew at the end of your adventure is fantasic. What’s more the Gurkhas have a delicious Nepalese curry waiting for you!
  • Medals, certificates, showers, curry, massage and a very warm glow await every finisher!
