Meet the teams

We've spoken to some of the teams who have signed up for Trailwalker 2013 to find out what inspired them to take on this 'Epic' challenge. Will you join them at the starting line in 2013?

Teams who have begun their Trailwalker 2013 journey

Soldiering On

This year is Julian's 10th Trailwalker - his top advice is having a strong team.

"You need to be able to trust, motivate and look after each other. Team camaraderie can push you to the finish line."

Inspired by a Gurkha presentation, he first took part alongside colleagues. Now retired, Julian continues to take up the challenge each year.

"It's great to support Oxfam and the Gurkha Welfare Trust by doing something you love. I'm so pleased that after 10 years I'm still fit and well enough to take part- I don't plan on stopping!" Julian, Soldiering On.

Mel's Mad Mates

Mel first experienced Trailwalker as a Support Crew member. Six years later, she's convinced a team of mates to take the plunge.

"I wanted to experience the event for myself. I'm excited to meet new people and get fit - it's also a great opportunity to bring friends together and take on a new challenge." Mel, Mel's Mad Mates.

The team and their support crew have just kick-started their training with an 11 and a half mile walk, overseen by team mascot - one year old baby Lucas!

Lost in Pace, Gerry and The Pacemakers (River Island Clothing Co.)

River Island Clothing Co have two teams taking part. Lost in Pace team leader and Oxfam supporter Colin, wanted  a unique challenge to  inspire the organisation.

"Taking part in Trailwalker will bring a real sense of positivity to the business, as well as to us as individuals." Colin, Lost in Pace.

Fellow team members, Graham and David, were pleased to join Colin on the journey. "It was a real compliment to be considered for the task - I couldn't say no!" David, Lost in Pace.
