The support

680x150

Welcome to the world of Gurkha hospitality! We'll look after you and your teammates on every step of your Trailwalker journey - from the moment you sign up, before you set off, and during and after the event.

As soon as you enter your team you'll get a toolkit of fundraising and training materials, as well as online support and an Oxfam contact for personal advice.

What you'll get out of it

Before

We'll look after you on every step of your journey. You'll get the latest fundraising and training toolkits, comprehensive online support, an experienced Oxfam contact for personal advice and an invitation to a preparation session. If you're entering multiple teams - we'll even come to your organisation to present essential preparation tips.

At the start

Imagine, two and a half thousand other people feeling the same as you. A mixture of excitement and anticipation - about to trek out into the unknown. With free camping (optional), a cultural show from the Gurkhas and a feast to set you up for the challenge laid on the night before, the excitement at the event hub starts to build early!

On the way

There are regular large checkpoints where you'll meet your support crew, put your feet up and receive first aid if you need it. Oxfam volunteers will keep you going with smiles and words of encouragement, and you'll get a much-needed hot meal along the way too.

At the finish line

The joy of crossing the line with your friends as the crowd cheers you on is hard to beat. You'll also get your special Trailwalker medal, plus hot showersdrinks, a massage from qualified sports therapists, an authentic Gurkha curry, a very warm glow and an incredible sense of achievement.

Afterwards

Once the inevitable aches and blisters have gone, that sense of achievement will stay with you for a lifetime. What's more, you can rest assured that you've earned every penny you've raised.

Event support

When you take part in Trailwalker, you're taking part in the major training exercise of the year for the Queen's Gurkha Signals. It's an exceptionally well organised event with a vast support infrastructure working in the background.

You can be sure that everything is in place to take care of your team and enable you to push onto the finish line. Without this support you'd probably never make it.

Did you know?

  • The Gurkhas create their own communications network in case telephones fail.
  • There is a fleet of 4x4s and other military vehicles to cover the course.
  • Over 10,000 meals will be served over the weekend to keep you moving.
  • There will be almost 500 Gurkhas, event staff and volunteers looking after you.
