Olive oil is vital to the remote communities that live in the Occupied Palestinian Territories. But the ongoing conflict with Israel has made life very difficult for olive growers like Intesar Zaaror.
Many farmers have had large sections of olive-producing land confiscated - leaving families struggling to make ends meet. It's in this unstable atmosphere that we're helping approximately 2,500 olive farmers to form co-operatives. By working together, families are producing more and better-quality olives.
The quality is now so good that the oil has been awarded Fairtrade status and can be exported - something that would have been impossible for individual farmers.
Communities now have a secure income for the first time; families are able to afford more food, and ensure that their children get an education.
