Liz Newbon, Global Citizenship Education Adviser (Resources)

Liz has varied experience of teaching and youth work, across five continents.  She is passionate about inspiring young people to learn about, respect and act for each other and the world around them. She manages Oxfam's education resources, using her expertise in writing learning materials, and supporting teachers to deliver high quality education for global citizenship.

John McLaverty, Youth and Community Organiser

Before joining Oxfam, John was Head of Humanities at an inner-city London secondary school. He now supports people in London and the South East of England to apply their learning, creativity and passion to campaign with Oxfam. Please get in touch with John if you'd like to learn more about campaigning in your school, youth group or community.

Kate Lea, Global Citizenship Education Lead Adviser

Kate leads Oxfam's schools programme, and has over 25 years' experience in education, specialising in development education, Philosophy for Children and school linking. She has expertise as a teacher, as a writer and editor of educational resources, and as a teacher trainer.  Kate also lived and worked for several years in Kenya and Malawi, supporting education projects and programmes.

Tanya Wisely, Education for Global Citizenship Adviser, Oxfam Scotland

Previously director of IDEAS (The International Development Education Association of Scotland), Tanya joined Oxfam in 2017. She works in close partnership with six Global Learning Centres to influence decision-makers and support teachers, local authorities and universities to embed Global Citizenship within the Scottish Curriculum.

Jennifer James, Education and Youth Adviser, Oxfam Cymru

Jennifer has worked in many schools - managing libraries and resource centres, while also teaching English and literacy. Jennifer is passionate about educating young people in global issues through literature and film while also developing in learners the skills necessary for independent learning. She works to promote and support ESDGC in Wales.

Jo-Anne Witcombe, Youth and Community Organiser

Jo-Anne has been an English teacher and wildlife guide in France, and a waste reduction educator in Manchester. At Oxfam, she manages the Oxfam School Group programme and supports schools in the North of England. Let Jo-Anne know if you are thinking of starting an Oxfam School Group, or if you're based in the North and would like some face-to-face educational support from Oxfam.

Nicci Morgan, Global Citizenship Education Adviser (Projects & Partnerships)

Nicci has a background working for grass roots charities, and in international child protection. She now looks after UK and International funding streams for Oxfam GB's Global Citizenship Education projects. Please get in touch with Nicci via if you are an organisation looking to set up a partnership working on Global Citizenship Education projects with under 25s in the UK and overseas.
