YOU WILL NEED

A pair of jeans
Sewing machine
Large fabric scraps (lace)
Card
Scissors
Pins
Needles
Thread
Tape measure

STEP ONE

Cut the denim jeans to your desired length of skirt, leave a couple of extra inches more than needed. Save the leg sections for later to fill the gaps.

STEP TWO

Cut along the seam that runs up to the zip. Do this at the front and back of the skirt then tuck and pin. At the back cut approximately 4 inches.

STEP THREE

Tuck, pin and sew the overlap denim section at the front and repeat at the back.

STEP FOUR

Slot a section of denim in the triangular gap at the back and front and sew. Take the excess denim from the leftover leg.

STEP FIVE

Cut off any excess denim and tidy.

STEP SIX

Measure and cut out a template of your pocket onto your card. Place the card over the pocket to make sure it fits.

STEP SEVEN

Draw around the template on your lace fabric then add an extra cm at the edges. Fold this 1cm in and iron down the sides, pin and sew. This keeps the material neat and tidy and stops any fraying which may occur. The lace detail pockets are now ready to sew to your skirt.

STEP EIGHT
Pin and sew the lace pockets on to the pockets of the jeans.

Now, from a pair of jeans, you have a gorgeous lace detail skirt.
