Oxfam Fashion Bloggers at the Company Style Blogger Awards

Last week, I was lucky enough to attend the Company Magazine Style Blogger Awards 2013 as one of their shortlisted bloggers. Fellow Oxfam blogger Laurie Rose and I were both shortlisted for the Best Thrifty Blog award (you may have read about it on the Oxfam Fashion blog last month) so we packed up our best outfits and headed to London for the super-glitzy event. Although she was my 'competition', Laurie (who blogs at MyBlueRinse) and I have chatted online since I began blogging for Oxfam. When we got together in real life, you couldn't shut us up and we're now firm friends, despite living opposite sides of the country.
First we enjoyed a glass of bubbly whilst chatting to our blogging colleagues and snacked on sushi. It was so lovely to meet all the other shortlisted bloggers in 'real life'. We took it in turns to have false lashes professionally applied by The Vintage Cosmetic Company, then Pinterest party queens Pinned it! Made It! hosted a craft session for us all to bling up a pair of sunglasses with flowers, scrabble tiles and crystals.
Company Magazine Editor, Victoria White announced the winners and it was so lovely to see the reaction of the crowd as all the bloggers cheered on the winners. We were all genuinely delighted for each other and it was such a lovely, supportive atmosphere - a nicer group of people you couldn't wish to meet. Although Laurie and I narrowly missed out on the top prize, we agreed that it was amazing to be recognised as thrifty style bloggers. We both we love to buy secondhand and repurpose our old clothing so it's amazing to hear that über-stylish Company Magazine like what we do.
After being 'papped' by Company - and ending up in the 'Stylish Bloggers' gallery on the website - we continued to enjoy the evening, giggling over cocktails and hijacking the Dream Booth for photo after photo of us.
What I particularly enjoyed about going to this event was the chance to put faces to URLs and I think that Oxfam should be next to host a blogging event so that we can all meet and share our love for thrifty fashion and charity shopping!
