So ladies, we all know that making a statement is essential this season and there are multiple ways of doing it through sustainable fashion. For this month's DIY, I am going jazz up a blouse collar and hopefully inspire some of you lovely readers to do something similar! I purchased this gorgeous vibrant green blouse from Oxfam York a few weeks ago and knew with a little patience it could make the jump from simple to statement in no time.
You will need:
The contrast between the colours of your beads with your blouse is very important if you are aiming to make a statement so dare to be a little bit different. A very unique way to customise your blouse is by purchasing an Oxfam necklace and using the beads from it to embellish your blouse - going that extra mile will make your blouse speak for itself.
Step by step
Select the area of the collar you would like to customise and draw a faint pencil guideline of the shape. I wanted to generate an asymmetric pattern with my beads so followed a diagonal line.
Select the beads you are going to use - make sure that your needle is small enough to thread them through.
Thread your needle and start at the back of the collar and sew upwards starting at the point. Thread the bigger bead first and then add the smaller bead.
Secure the bead by repeating the stitch a couple of times then move on to adding the next bead and repeat until the area you want to add your design to is filled.
