DIY Quick Cat Hat

With blustery weather and April showers just around the corner, I thought that today would be the ideal time to share a super-simple, really fast DIY project to jazz up your winter hats for spring. I have a plain grey beanie hat that I've never worn, so I thought about what I could do to it to make it more appealing. I've got it! Turn it into a cat hat, of course.

Honestly, this is probably the easiest DIY you'll ever do and you'll be finished in minutes. It's always satisfying to complete a craft project so sit yourself down with a cup of tea and get ready for some serious satisfaction as you transform your old unloved bobble hat into a cool cat cap.

You will need: a knitted hat, white wool, black wool, a black button, needle with a large hole for threading the wool.

Step 1: Sew the button onto the hat to create a nose. This will give you the centre point for the cat's face.

Step 2: Use the white wool to sew whiskers either side of the nose. Try to make them equal in length and equally spaced.

Step 3: While you're still using the white wool, stitch the shape of a smiling cat's mouth below the button nose.

Step 4: Thread the black wool onto the needle and sew two cute squinty eyes above the nose.

I hope you enjoy your newly-decorated feline hat whenever the weather turns cooler in April, and I'd love to photos of your own DIY projects so please tweet me @Cassiefairy with your pics.
