It’s 100 days since the UK Government pledged “to turn the 2020s into a decade of climate action and support,” at the end of COP26 in Glasgow.
Every day that leaders fail to take action puts more lives and livelihoods on the line. The UK remains COP President until COP27 in November so the government has a huge responsibility this year to deliver on the promises made in Glasgow.
They must ensure all countries commit to ambitious new targets to drastically cut emissions, starting right now. They must end all new fossil fuel projects and ensure the UK responds urgently to the demands of low-income countries for finance to support people already facing the impacts of the climate crisis. That starts with the UK cleaning up its act.
