Cake for Get Together

On 8 March 2013, International Women's Day, Oxfam supporters all over the country are putting on events to help women build a better future for themselves and their families. This is your chance to do what you love for women worldwide by holding a Get Together.

The majority of people living in poverty are women. Women make up half the world's population but only earn 10% of the world's income. By holding a Get Together you are helping women take control of their lives by helping to provide education to girls in Mali, supporting women small scale farmers, training for midwives to stop women dying in childbirth, building latrines and hand-washing facilities and setting up Health Clubs for women. To find out more about these projects visit

A Get Together event can be as big or small as you would like to make it- from hosting a film screening in your front room, to arranging a talk from an inspirational woman in your local community or having friends round for dinner. The important thing is to have fun and to know that you are standing in solidarity with women across the world.

Get-together launches on the 8th January 2013. Whatever you love to do, do it for women worldwide.  To register your Get Together click here.
