Your passion and talents can be the difference

Are you passionate about politics and international development? Always dreamed of becoming a grassroots lobbyist? Do you want to gain invaluable skills in political influencing and help Oxfam change people's lives?

Could you be one of our local Constituency Campaigners

Oxfam South West is looking for enthusiastic and passionate volunteers to join our new and growing movement of 'Constituency Campaigners'.  As a Constituency Campaigner we can offer you the opportunity to learn new skills and gain experience in influencing politicians.

Earlier this year constituency campaigners helped contribute to a range of successes including the Arms Trade Treaty and more recently have been actively contacting their local politicians their concerns on Bio-Fuels, Syria and the Lobbying Bill.

In becoming a Constituency Campaigner with Oxfam you will be making a real difference by campaigning to tackle the causes of poverty and suffering.

Our Constituency Campaigner Programme aims to give you the knowledge, tools and support to make sure your voice is heard and has influence at the highest level. This voluntary role will give you vital skills and experience in being a formidable campaigner and influencing those who hold the power, right there in your own community.

We will help you get started with an induction day  on Saturday 26 October introducing you to effective political campaigning.  After that you will get regular updates and training both on-line and face to face. Our training will provide you with the opportunity to learn from Oxfam staff and other programme participants and build your own campaigning networks.

You will be a Oxfam's key contact for political campaigning in your constituency. You will build a relationship with your local MP or MEP by writing to and meeting them or inviting them to local events.

Constituency campaigners, often working with other organisations, play a vital part in bringing community voices to their representatives.  You as a Constituency Campaigner will become part of these vital campaigns for justice and lasting change. Join our growing movement in the Southwest today!

At Oxfam we don't wait for others to make change happen - we make it happen, every day, in over 100 countries around the world.  Local grassroots activism is at the heart of that change.

Your passion and talents can be the difference!
