Oxfam's Campaigns, Policy and Influencing Division wishes to recruit volunteers to support Oxfam's work by carrying out research projects and writing reports If you have research skills and a genuine interest in Oxfam's work, this is a great opportunity to have a positive impact on Oxfam's policy development.

The time commitment will vary and will be discussed and decided by agreement of the volunteer and their contact point in Oxfam.

Key responsibilities:

The specific research projects change regularly.  For more information of projects currently available please click here:

Voluntary Research Assistant August 2017

The nature of the work means that it is likely that you will be able to do a lot of it from home and therefore applications are welcome from all parts of Great Britain.  Ideally, however, most of the roles will involve some face-to-face contact with line managers and therefore some travel to the relevant office may be necessary.

(Please note that Oxfam does not send volunteers overseas to carry out research.)

Skills and competencies:

Ideally you should have proven experience of research at degree level (or equivalent) as stated in the details.

Many of the projects and tasks specify qualifications at undergraduate / postgraduate level. If you don't have the relevant qualification, but do have experience of working at an appropriate level, please contact us to discuss your application.

What this role can offer the volunteer:

  • You will be helping Oxfam in its mission to build a just world without poverty.
  • You will be utilising your existing skills whilst developing new ones.
  • This may be the opportunity to link undergraduate / postgraduate studies with a specific project that will benefit Oxfam.
  • You will gain an insight into the practices of the Research Team of Oxfam GB.
  • Travel expenses will be paid, by agreement with your line-manager and in line with Oxfam's policy.
