Superstore Volunteer Recruiter (Oxford)

Context:

An exciting new Oxfam Superstore is coming to Oxford and we are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help grow our team.

If you enjoy working in a fun and diverse team, thrive on meeting and talking to people, organising events, and you'd like to be part of an exciting new community project right from the start, this could be for you!

The superstore will be more than a shop - it will be a place for the community to get together, a café, as well as offering a huge choice of bargains and one-of-a-kind finds in a fantastic family friendly environment.

Key responsibilities:

Volunteers are vital in helping Oxfam to raise valuable funds and as a Volunteer Recruiter, you will help to grow the shop team. You will be involved in:

  • Building relationships with local colleges, universities, job centres and other community organisations to promote volunteering opportunities.
  • Planning, implementing and monitoring volunteer recruitment campaigns.
  • Attending local careers and volunteering fairs.
  • Placing adverts on multiple recruitment channels.
  • Adhering to Oxfam's value of inclusiveness and recruiting a diverse range of volunteers.
  • Using social media channels to promote volunteer recruitment drives and benefits of volunteering with Oxfam.
  • Creatively thinking of innovative ideas to attract volunteers.

Skills and competencies:

You do not need specific skills and experience but the following will be useful:

  • Commitment to Oxfam's values of accountability, inclusiveness and empowerment.
  • An interest and enthusiasm for volunteer recruitment.
  • Ability to work within Oxfam's policies and shop guidelines.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and under own initiative.
  • Ability to think creatively about new ways of attracting volunteers.
  • Excellent ability to communicate face to face and online.
  • Ability to handle confidential information in a sensitive and professional manner.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office, particularly Word and Excel and the willingness to learn.

What this role can offer the volunteer:

  • You will be joining thousands of volunteers who "won't live with poverty".
  • Opportunity to utilise and develop your transferable skills.
  • Valuable insight into retail at an international charity.
  • Learn about Oxfam's humanitarian, development and campaigning work.
  • Valuable experience for those looking to pursue a career in Recruitment or HR.
  • Opportunity to gain nationally recognised NVQ qualifications in customer service, warehousing, retail and management.
  • Lunch and travel expenses can be reimbursed in line with Oxfam's policy.
