Thinking inside the box

With Christmas approaching, we asked Love and Wardrobe fashion blogger (and Oxfam shop fan) Isabella Stockwell for her festive shopping tips. Her advice? Visit your local Oxfam shop and create the perfect Christmas hamper.

This year I decided to create a Christmas hamper for my Mum with unique items from Oxfam. Here are my five easy steps to recreating your own hamper:

1. First of all, find an unused picnic hamper or basket that you can use to display your gifts in. The person you give it to can then also reuse it for a picnic or as storage, so it's really two gifts in one.

2. Step 2 is my favourite part: hitting the shops! First of all, focus on finding gifts that match people's hobbies or interests. My Mum is an artist with a strong love of fabrics and prints, so I found her a Liberty of London photo frame (£5.99), an Orla Kiely address book (£1.50) and some vintage tins that she could use to store her paintbrushes in.

3. As I know my Mum is a fan of relaxing nights in front of the fireplace at Christmas time, I then decided to purchase some Divine Chocolate (£1.99), a tea pot for her evening drink (£3), The Notebook on DVD (£1.99) and an adventure story book (£1.99) to keep her entertained no matter how cold it gets.

4. Next I added the gifts that'll leave Mum feeling spoilt. I found a Radley phone case (£5), a Body Shop set (£1.50) and a Glittery Shrug (£3.99) for special nights out with friends.

5. After you've finished hunting for treasured items, simply place all of them in the hamper and decorate it with ornaments.
