In response to UK Government's increase in aid to drought hit West Africa, Oxfam said:

"An increase in aid from the UK government is welcome news for the 13 million people affected by drought in the Sahel region of West and Central Africa. Acting early saves lives, and is critical to prevent the situation descending into a tragedy . More funds will be needed urgently over the coming six months and we encourage the UK to work closely with international partners to break the vicious cycle of crisis in the region."
