In response to the announcement that Britain will co-host a high level international meeting: 'Nutrition for Growth: Beating Hunger through Business and Science' Oxfam's head of UK Government Relations, Katy Wright, said:

"Oxfam welcomes the Government's announcement of an event to focus on hunger and nutrition and we look forward to this wide range of governments and experts from different fields taking ambitious action to tackle undernutrition in some of the world's poorest countries.

"We hope this event will serve to focus minds on the scandal of hunger in the weeks before the G8 summit and that world leaders will take on the challenge to address the injustice of hunger."

Notes to editors:

Oxfam campaigners will be coming together on the day of the event as part of the IF campaign to raise their voices against the scandal that one in eight people across the world  do not have enough food, even though we know there is enough food for everyone.
