General volunteers

London Marathon volunteers

  • When is it?

The 2018 London Marathon takes place on Sunday 22 April 2018.

  • Where is it?

We're based all over London. Previously we had volunteers at Greenwich, Tower Bridge, Canary Wharf, Tower Hill and Westminster.

  • What time am I needed?

Your shift time will vary depending on where you have been placed. They can start from 9am and finish at 6pm.

  • What will I be doing on the day?

We have four cheerpoints along the route and a post-race reception hosted in Westminster near the finish line. You'll be stationed at one of these.

  • What do you do at a cheerpoint?

Cheer! We have banners and flags set up and you'll be given an Oxfam t-shirt, big foam high five hands, thundersticks, pom poms and more to make our Oxfam runners feel tremendously loved whilst they run their 26.2 miles.

  • What do you do at the post-race reception?

This is where we welcome our tired runners and their families and friends back after the race. We give them food, sign them up to get a free massage, make sure they're alright etc. If you are based here you may also be asked to go down to the finish line and help find Oxfam runners and direct them to the post-race venue.
