Admiralty Navigation Manual : Volume I 1938

£29.99

Product description

Published by His Majesty's Stationery Office in 1939. Includes numerous charts and figures, some in colour.

Volume 1 of the Admiralty Navigation Manual 1938 is described as a practical guide for executive officers covering the syllabus laid down for examination in Navigation and Pilotage for the rank of Lieutenant, but omitting the study of nautical astronomy.
The contents include Navigation instruments, Tides and tidal streams, Description of admiralty charts and publications and elemental meteorology. Includes an index and adverts on the first few pages.

In Fair to Good condition. The boards have shelf-wear and rubbing along their edges, which is particularly noticeable on the spine, at the top and bottom. Internally there is a split along the internal front hinge, although the spine strip is still attached it does feel weak. A few foxing spots and one of the fold-out charts has some small tears on its edge. Despite these flaws the pages are generally pretty clean and the binding is still sound.
