Antiquarian The Keramic Gallery Vol 1 & Vol II - First Edition

£50.00

Product description

Antiquarian reference on pottery and porcelain "from earliest times until the beginning of this century" (year 1800) as this collection of reference data was amassed and produced in 1872

PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS A RARE FIRST EDITION PRODUCED IN 1872. There are subsequent editions around produced much later in the following century and more widely available now.

Several hundred illustrations are shown of rare curios and choice. Two volumes are packed with 227 Woodbury images by Cundall illustrating an impressive total of 468 objects.

Although the leaves and illustrations are all still very clear and fascinating, the covers in particular do reflect that they have been much referred to and enjoyed in their 145 years - these are not books which have been ignored and left on a shelf! They have obviously given hours of pleasure.

Volume I is in good condition overall but has some weathering on some pages (not enough to spoil viewing them clearly) and there is wear on the edges of the outside spine.
Volume II has some weathering on pages (again not enough to spoil viewing them clearly), the spine is considerably worn on the outside. However, the spine of the cover is now detached from the leaves (the adhesive has given up at some point). The pages are virtually all attached together and the odd one which has left the pack is still there loose.
