Macmillan London, 1885, new edition, Golden Treasury series. Printed at Cambridge University Press. Hardback, full dark red leather, gilt titling, marbled endpapers and marbled page block edges, 388 pages. Tissue guarded illustration of Bacon's statue on title page. Cover, in very attractive dark red leather boards with gilt titling and decoration to spine, gilt lining to boards and school prize dedication gilt lettering to front, is in generally good and bright condition commensurate with age, loose rear board (taped in place), minor bumping to corners and spine extremities. Internally the book is in good, clean and tight condition (taking into account loose rear board as mentioned above). Neat and attractive prize label (dated July 1887) on front endpaper. Some foxing spots to first few pages and light tanning to page edges commensurate with age. Overall a very attractive, clean edition which just requires the re-attachment of the rear board to return it to very good order.
