Biochemistry in Relation to Medicine [1949]

£17.99

Product description

Published in 1949 by Longmans, Green and Co. Illustrated with a colour frontispiece, includes detailed scientific explanations with records of experiments, formulae, and data tables. Includes index and bibliography.

The preface states ' The traditional curriculum for the student of Medicine is apt to suffer from the defect that the principles and methods of the experimental sciences of Physiology and Biochemistry are laid aside and forgotten when the student passes from the laboratory to the clinic...Occupying, as it does, a borderline position between Chemistry on the one hand and Physiology on the other, the science of Biochemistry may be presented to students either from the chemical or biological standpoint. Our aim in this book has been to present those aspects of biochemistry which are significant in Medicine'.

Provides a detailed insight into the earlier understanding of how Biochemistry was introduced to students nearly 70 years ago.

The cover is a bit marked with some bumping and rubbing wear. A former owner's name (a Cambridge student) is written on the front end paper. The binding is sound, although the front end paper feels a little loose.
