Hardback; 145 x 200 mm; greenish boards with titles in black on spine and front cover with coloured pictorials of a bronze sword on spine, and sword and axe on front cover; xii & 285 pages; endpaper maps. No dust jacket. Six illustrations in colour and “many other drawings in black-and-white”.

The book is in fair condition. The binding is sound. The covers are grubby with spot marks on the spine and bumping to the ends of the spine and covers. Page end tanning and a little foxing. Some foxing of the front and back matter. Fly title annotated in blue ink: “Malcolm with love from Auntie Nora Christmas 1960”. Recto of the frontispiece annotated in blue ink: “Malcolm J Neave 39 General St Blackpool”. A very few marks and stains internally here and there, a very few small closed tears.

Joyce Reason (1894 - 1974) was a British author of missionary biographies and historical fiction for young readers. Bran the Bronze-Smith is a story of a boy in prehistoric Britain who becomes a travelling smith and eventually a master smith.
