Avro Manhattan is a world-renowned authority on roman Catholicism in politics. A resident of London, England, he was born in Italy of Italian, Swiss, Brazilian, Dutch and American extraction. He studied philosophy social science and religion.
During World War II he operated a radio station called `radio Freedom`, broadcasting to occupied Europe. He also wrote political commentaries for the British Broadcasting Cooperation (BBC), and co-operated with H.G. Wells in drafting and distributing a New Bill of Human Rights intended as a basis for a new world community.
Besides being a close friend of H.G. Wells, Manhattan was also in close association with George Bernard Shaw and with Lord Alexander, Leader of H.M.O. in the House of Lords.
Avro Manhattan, a member of the Society of Authors, the P.E.N. Club and the Royal Society of Literature. is also a Life member of the British Interplanetary Society. He is a keen astronomer and a student of social insects. He has never belonged to any political party.
