The light blue/grey paper cover (with portrait of Emerson) is in fair to good condition for its age with shelfwear to edges, a little fading to spine, some tanning and a couple of other marks to front and small tears at spine extremities. A small piece of top right corner has been clipped. Internally the book is in fair to good condition for its age with just some light tanning and foxing, a neat pen inscription on ffep and a small closed tear at top edge of last page. Binding is firm and tight throughout. A fascinating collection of 14 of Emerson's addresses and essays including 'Self Reliance', 'Character', 'Man the Reformer', 'Lecture on the Times', 'Immortality', 'Uses of Great Men' and many others.
