Eye on Everest: Charles Evans' sketch-book of the great Everest Expedition

£14.99

Product description

Charles Evans
Dennis Dobson Ltd, 1955.
Hardback; 195 x 255 mm; light grey/blue boards with gold titles on the spine; 123 pages. Sketches and text by Charles Evans. Original dust jacket, price clipped.
The book is in good condition. The binding is sound and the book lies flat when opened. The pages are clean but with slight foxing to the leaves visible at the top of the book when closed. There is chipping and tears to the top of the dust jacket, more on the front than the back. However, there are two significant tears to the back of the dust jacket, one at the bottom and the other midway next to the spine. The dust jacket generally shows signs of wear commensurate with its age. On the back there are marks and discoloration, particularly on the edge where it folds into the book. There is some discoloration and marks on the front of the dust cover.
A charming sketch book with some amusing drawings depicting the successful 1953 Everest Expedition. This is a pictorial account of the greatest adventure of our time – the successful Everest Expedition. It is by the deputy leader of the Expedition, who, incidentally, illustrated Sir John Hunt’s book.
The book will not only interest the adult; it will enthrall the young person who sees with the eye rather than building a vision in the mind through the printed word.
