Publisher: Adam and Charles Black, London. 1957. First edition as per publishing history on reverse of title page.Hardback with good dustjacket, 141 pages, charmingly illustrated in b&w by Peter Biegel (the well known sporting artist who was a pupil of Lionel Edwards). Cover, in pale blue boards with white titling to spine, is in generally good condition with some areas of fading. Internally the book is in good condition commensurate with age with clean and bright text pages and illustrations and no tears, creases or significant marks. Neat pen inscription on front endpaper (dated 1961). Some light foxing to end-papers and in a few other places including page block edges. The price-clipped dustjacket is in decent and generally sound condition commensurate with age with some shelfwear to edges, some chipping and a one inch closed tear to top edge. Foxing spots on front and rear flaps and on rear of jacket. Overall, a nice 1st edition copy of a charming children's story from the 1950s, sensitively illustrated by sporting artist Peter Biegel.
