Publisher: Hodder and Stoughton, 1956, 1st edition (publishing history on rear of the main title page simply states 'first published in 1956'). Hardback with unclipped dustjacket, 182 pages, illustrations by Eileen Soper. Cover, in red boards with black titling to front and spine, is in generally good condition with light bumping and fading to spine extremities. Internally, the book is in good, clean and tight condition with no creases, significant marks or inscriptions and with clear and bright text pages and illustrations. Foxing to page block edges and to front endpaper. Very small tear across top corner of p 157. The dustjacket, which is not price-clipped (showing price of 7s 6d net), is in fair condition with some shelfwear to edges, small tears at spine extremities and at top corners and a little light creasing / rubbing to spine, but otherwise sound and intact. Overall an honest and presentable copy of this collectable first edition in a largely sound and un-clipped dustjacket.
