Fortunes Made In Business: Life Struggles of Successful People

£50.00

Product description

Amalgamated Press Ltd, London; nd but possibly about 1900 from internal evidence in the text.
Hardback; 220 x 280 mm; green boards in half leather (dark green); titles in gold on the spine; iv & 380 pages; all edges flecked. No dust jacket.
The book is generally in good condition. The binding is sound but there is cracking along the gutter between the front flyleaf and page i, and along the gutter between page 380 and the back free endpaper. The covers are slightly scuffed and bumped with some wear along the edges. The printing is on good quality paper but the endpapers are tanned with some foxing, and there is some foxing and grubbiness in places throughout the book.
The book deals with the lives and enterprises of over 40 industrialists and inventors of the period, eg Carnegie, Thomas Cook, Frys of Bristol, Krupp, etc, etc. With illustrations throughout. The book will appeal to those with an interest in these men of business, the view of such businesses at that time, and the historical perspective before World War I.
