Harold - The Last of the Saxon Kings [1908, The World's Classics]

£9.99

Product description

Lord Lytton's history of King Harold first published in 1848. This is the First Edition from The World Classics series, published in 1908 by Henry Frowde, Oxford University Press. Six black & white illustrations. With a red ribbon page marker.

Well written in a straight forward style with nice clear print. Harold, The Last of the Saxon Kings was the source work for Verdi's opera Aroldo. Edward George Earle Lytton Bulwer-Lytton, 1st Baron Lytton (1803 – 1873) was an English novelist, poet, playwright, and politician. He was immensely popular with the reading public and wrote a stream of bestselling novels which earned him a considerable fortune.

A former owner's name is written in ink on the front end paper.

The cover does have some rubbing wear, however the internal pages are in a good clean condition and the binding is sound. Overall in a very reasonable condition for a volume nearly 110 years old.
